WD Green Power WD10EACS power on off

Hi guys

I have 2 WD Green Power WD10EACS suffer from the same problem, the drive spin up and then no clicking and then spin down after few seconds. As if there isnt enough power. The drives have not been dropped in anyway.

Anyone come across this problem?

Are you sure there is no head moves at all?

These drives not too noisy...

if you have right, this can be pcb or preamp issue.

the motor is trying to spin up to speed but then power off, no stickion on HDA. Could this be the motor controller chip malfunction?

yes, it could be, but only one VCD chip responsible for both 2 motors!
Much more likely it is preamp / VC / pcb's other parts problem, i think...

Did you measured the VC?
I have seen some really strange problems before.....

Update: Data Successfully recovered, it's the preamp that playing up. Thanks NC
