Hello everyone,

Just a hello from me and a question for the experts.

Does anybody know how to put a Maxtor 6E040L0 into safemode? I have been messing about with HDDL and *.LDR files but have been unable to update the microcode on my test drive. According to some posts on the Russian-speaking forum you have to put the drive into safemode. I have tried translating the posts and apparently it has something to do with the jumper settings.

Any ideas?

Many thanks
Ross

Hi.

Safe Mode on HDD which you mark in your msg (this one is a member of family Maxtor N40P) established by this jumper:

1 2 3 4 5
* * * * *
* * * *
6 7 8 9

Combination 6-7 (one jumper) installs this drive in the safe mode.
