Seagate Baracuda ST3320620A burned element

Hi,
Yesterday went home and attached external HDD to power, but no effect, just a smell.. I examined the power suply, found a gap, opened it and found 3 elements cutted of by radiator, that's grounded. So, i attached the HDD to PC, pressed ON button, no effect. turned just the PC's power suply on mannually, after attaching just HDD, no effect. Turned on Power suply and attaced the HDD, the power turned off. By examining the HDD, found a small gap in a black square form element with two legs, close to power input, that connects ground other plate.
So my question is, if there's a hope to bring the HDD back to life by my self and your help? Is it possible to find matching plate and replace with it?

A quite big element, about 5x2mm. Is this a resistor? maybe need to put a wire in its place?

How should I operate with hdd? Use it slowwly (turn off for a while) or use it in a cold place? What are the recomendations? Now i can access the data, backing up some primary data!

That was it..
All data I needed were saved to a safe place..
The HDD disapeared from My Computer, I turned it OFF, then ON and blue smokes came of the HDD.. So it's officially dead, but lucky saved the data! TNX again!

That component protects the rest of the PCB from excessive voltage... I might start to be concerned about your power supply.

The drive works fine without it, but you could think of it as similar to a fuse. The fact that whatever blew the TVS then blew the PCB indicates to me that you have a power problem.

Agree with drccsc, sounds like you have a dodgy/poor quality PSU.
