January 20th, 2009, 2:02

Hi Guys

I have WD2000JS-00MHB0 with faulty ROM (ATMEL 25F1024AN), hard knocking/clicking then stop, it gives alias "HAWK" . Howswap checked all heads ok.
Swap pcb and ROM, same symptoms.

Any hope?

thank's for any inputs.

I believe within UDMA PC3K you need to connect HDD in Kernel Mode, start utility in Kernel, and there is a option for searching for ROM copy in SA. It requires to be started from a loader so you need to have suitable fw in your database.

Never tried this myself yet, let us know if it works for you.

Get PCB with close match(model, fw, dcm) and try it.
