please help

I have a WDC WD 800BB-53 DKAO.
I used AVG free virus scan and it put two system 32 files from this device in the vault.
After this I had to reinstall windows on my computer.
When I plug in my hdd into my usb, I get a message that my hdd is plugged in.
When I go to my computer, there is no sign of my hdd.
In the device manager, my hdd is there. It says that this device is working properly.
But there is no way I can open my hdd.
I hope someone here can help me.
Greetings Hetty.

Your drive is still infected. You'd better scan with anti virus once again to make sure the system is clean. And, yes, you must also fix the registry.

I tried to scan it again, but it doesn't mention the hdd in the antivirusprogram as well. If I want to scan special drives, I can't find my hdd.
You can only see it is there in the device manager, but in no other place. I could open it before I scanned it, the time before AVG put it in the vault.
As I said, after this I recovered my whole system and than I plugged in my hdd and there seems no sign of it anymore, except in the device manager.

Your data is probably fine, but you need help of a computer consultant. At least they should be cheaper than a data recovery expert.

You also may want to read this: http://www.cert.org/blogs/vuls/2008/04/ ... torun.html how to disable the autorun.inf vector of infection.

Consider going to http://www.drweb.com and downloading/running the CureIT tool as well.

Hi,

It seems your Drive is very much intact, if you are a novice PC user, go and check your

Winodws:
Device manager >> disk Management

If it shows up there then the chances are 100% that yours is virus infected drive.

Take the help of DR Pro and they should recover your data for a decent price.

Please dont try any free/DIY tools as the situation may get worst and your data.

Cheers,
