Barracuda ST380011A Random AMNF

February 13th, 2009, 8:49

VCR4.3 detects AMNF on few random sectors (it means they're appear in random places in every new scan), but only in READ scanmode. Problem appeared suddenly, after normal work. Can somebody tell me, physical or electronic trouble it is, an what can i do by myself to repair this HDD?

You mean 'remap' or what? I think remap will not help because errors seems to be appearing randomly, not sector-related. And also I can see: VCR in PIO mode, and not-48bit. API does not shows any errors.
