How to recover HDD what have´nt file system?

March 2nd, 2009, 7:05

Hi,

I have video recorder what have two Seagate 250 GB HDD. Video is recorded directly to sector, there is no file system, I asked it from producer. All my recorded video is lost, DVR shows free space. I need to recover my data, but majority of recovering software need to know about file system...

Is there possibilities to recover my data?? I will be very thankful for any help.

You have to reconstruct manually the 'filesystem' assuming the hdds are working. Need to know how your DVR work. Note- some dvr have a recovery function. Check documentation. What is the model/brand?

So the conclusion is: send your drive to some pro who can do the job.

These DVRs have no OS, I know few models Java powered, but usually the file organisation is 'custom'. This makes the data recovery somewhat difficult. Beside this there are drive locking issues (not this case, though... Or maybe?). Need to see or know the equipment.

Its Everfocus EDVR16D2V.

Here is mail from Everfocus:

we work with no file system, we record directly into the sectors.
You can have a look at the recorded images with our article EPR-100.
(Included in the package is the software)

Bu of course only if the hard disc is not damaged.

Best Regards

Everyhting clear : they have their proprietary tool (EPR-100) to access the data on the disk. You only have to check it but they state it works only if the disk is NOT damaged. So, first, diagnose the HDD.
