Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi,
I have a hard drive with JFS from an AIX Server.
Has someone any idea how to extract the data ? (BTW: I do not have an AIX Server)
Linux can read JFS, but is a different type of filesystem, indeed it is called JFS2.
This guys have a software for AIX, but I have`t get any answer from them:
http://www.finaldata.com/Products/?s=PRD&c=8Do you know if it works ?
Any solution around this?
Thanks

AIX is an HP version of UNIX ..
Try the demo of this;
http://www.stellarinfo.com/hp-unix-data-recovery.htmIt may work, it may not

AIX is OS developed and used by IBM on their RISC6000 series. HP has nothing to do with it.
To add more problems they also use LVM.
I don't know any utility to work with it - you need IBM AIX station.
I'd suggest to send it to somebody big - Ontrack or Seagate.

The best software is R-Studio. Other: Nucleus Kernel for JFS

It is not JFS, JFS recovery tools will not work

1. R-Studio has no support for JFS. ccamargol - where did you find it?
2. JFS supported by UFSExplorer and Nucleus is the same as the one supported by Linux. It's different from JFS used by IBM AIX.
3. As I've already told, IBM AIX uses LVM, and allocation blocks, most likely, will be messed up.
I still suggest to send it to somebody who has IBM AIX and an experience. PM me if you need more info.

Hi All,
Pupok is right , stellers JFS is only for Linux JFS & R-studio does not have JFS support.
I tried both softwares no luck .....
I recently had a HDD with AIX JFS 2 formatted and with lvm ... none of the tools were able to recognise the filesystem.
