it`s 3 heads - 2 paltters.

top platter not in use. bottom platter isn`t scratched and i cant see surface form head 1 and 2 so i cant say then there is any scratch, i was hoping someone had same situation when platters are not scratched.

Well, I've got one here now with a strange log message. It will eventually come ready, but fails when I try to read anything (it did let me read a small amount before it got 'fussy")

I may post the log.

I see a fair amount of head / media damage with this model, and have gotten those REG errors with badly scratched platters. Different messages than the 5200.2 models. That's why I suggested that first.

I may swap the heads. But I think there is a chance there is a bad G-List or other FW that is raising hell. More about that later.

In the meantime, here's a shot of another 160 GB that I worked on yesterday. Obviously, no data was recovered.
