Detect in bios but not OS

March 11th, 2009, 22:05

I need some help to solve this problem.
I have a 40gb Maxtor DiamondMax and not detect in bios. So, I check, some of the firmware are bad, write it back and make it detect again. Try to run in MHDD, found a few bad blocks but I can't erase it because I need the data.
But the problem is when I run the hard disk to pull out the data, the hard disk only detect in bios not in OS.
I've tried many times, check the cable, jumper, try at other computer but it still the same.
So, I need to know what cause of that problem. Is that because of bad sector the hard disk not detect in OS?
Please, I need some advice because the data is very important to me.
Thanks

Just a little help:

If these modules are all bad, your drive have bigger problem than the SA corruption....

It is time to seek for professional help. :D

Who has PC3000 that is not professional?

Damn expensive toy for a hobbyist. I mean, seriously, some people think I'm nuts with a high end DSLR not being a professional photographer, but that would be next level overkill.

If he has a legal instance of the tool, he should know how to handle this kind of problem...
