Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi.
I know there are manuals but i can't read in russian, and
translated version is very difficult to understand.
I recovered a 10gb maxtor hdd with bad sectors using
PC3000AT. After that, i use MHDD to test it with "scan"
Would you descript what are the meanings of the
coloured, partial filled or filled blocks that apper
on the right of the screen after the test.
(I want to know if red blocks = bad sectors, but
a description of others also will be welcome)
:asmile:
Thanks for your time.

blocks are represent access time. light-gray - fast, colored - slow (even retries sometimes).

Thanks overdrive!
If you don't mind, i have two more questions:
After "scan" how do i know that drive has BAD sectors (not slow sector) ?
And what command does "hide" them?

(
MHDD is really fast)

typically you have to start first cycle of scan with options "remap" and "erase waits" on. after that, start scan again, and it will show are there any defects remaining.
it is also useful to check SMART parameter "reallocated sectors count" before and after scan.

I can repair the maxtor bad sectors and put in the P LIST
MHDD options "remap" and "erase waits" only put in the g list
