Did you read the manual ? There's a lot of explanation provided by manufacturer about setting drives to safe mode.

Your problem is bigger than a few laptop drives...

I assume you are very new to data recovery, and you are attempting recovery from a customers HDD with limited knowledge of the HDD and how it works. You first need to understand what you are doing, and why it needs to be done, then you will have more success at data recovery. The data on your clients drive is most likely of much value to him, so for his sake you should not attempt repairs when you do not know the problem. I would recommend you buy in some donors, and experiment on media where data is not of any importance.

Does PC3K display any lights when your HDD is connected? does HDD click at all? Does HDD reach DRD and DSC? You say you hear it spin, are you sure it is the motor you are hearing and not the sounds of stuck heads?

You will need to give more information about your problem.

When you buy a product, assure you get the right support, otherwise you are only buying enough rope to hang yourself.
