Are the terminal port settings the same for Samsung as they are for Seagate.

Sometimes.
Vague question = vague answer
March 27th, 2009, 18:22
sorry to be vague
I am using the same settings I use for Seagate terminal on Samsung and I am just getting junk displayed. Is the baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits and flow-controll the same?
March 27th, 2009, 18:55
Sounds like in that case the answer is no.
There are some Samsung drives that have the same settings as some Seagate drives but I would say that the majority of them are different.
Also check your PM.

Does anyone diagnose what the problem is with this drive from this terminal report.
Samsung HD501LJ. When drive is powered up, it sounds like it is initializing properly and it comes ready in the proper amount of time. The problem is that as soon as I try to detect the drive it goes busy forever.
Thanks

Is this the original PCB for sure?

"Detect baud rate" command solved the most problems I had with my terminal

I performed HotSwap and could read all SA modules, I have written appropriate modules to my donor, and data is now accessible after a second hotswap, but disk clicks on access to some areas so I am now creating an image using head map. Seems to be going OK. Looks as though 1 head may be damaged, maybe the service head?
