Anyone have firmware for an old Caviar 33100 (WDAC33100-00H) or know how to regen the translator? Thanks.

PC-3000 ISA doesn't have an option to regen the translator on this unit. Is there a drive that I can use as a temporary host to regen the trans from the p-list? The drives newer than this one have the regen translator option. Am I out of luck? Thanks.

Hi
I have this working drive:
WDAC33100-32H

I can send you the SA, if this is good enough for you.

These drives use the same commands as AA series (like WD102AA for example)
I don't get it. How firmware from a different drive would help you to regenerate translator? Which modules are bad?

I think not for regen, but repair.
Sometimes a "sample" mod can help a lot.

Additionally, without the original translator, some type of data can be recovered, like pictures, and so on...

Sorry, we received two of these drives. One had some minor firmware damage. One has a translator issue. We purchased an identical drive a few days ago and recovered the first one. The second one has damaged copies of mod 20 and 25 (crc errors). First 274k is read but produces SSS afterwards.

You mean you don't have tools to do that.
Why don't you buy the tools
Your problem is not a problem at all

The best solution - Buy PC-3000 UDMA.
