Hi all!
I hope this is the right place for this problem.
I have a 2 GB corrupted Acronis 8.1 TIB file from a 40GB hdd.
Is there a solution to get any data back from it? I did not find it yet.
Acronis 8.1 can't open it.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Spildit!
Yes, I have original disk but sometimes it does not spin up.
I do not use it. I spare it. But the TIB theme is important.

Yes, Acronis was not a good choice.
I think this TIB is unusable...

Good idea! Thanks!
I will try .

Yes, the TIB file is normal compressed.
So I think too there is no tool for open it.

I tried that.
But Restorer and R-Studio can not handle this corrupt TIB image.
Can I decompress this file first with any special tool?

The second chance is (because the file is unfinished)
to find out a correct file signature and header information for this file. But it is more difficult. But not impossible

Mount acronis drive tib image in windows from within acronis. Or try restore data at boot, recovery mode. Either may be enough for it to recalculate the hash structures.
vm has support for converting those images, with one of their tools (longshot).
Maybe you get the data from the original drive again (not imaged with acronis). Go ask acronis, or at its forum for a sollution.
The compression will have a patent, maybe you could look at that, if above options fails.

have you tried to run Validate option for your acronis image to check the integrity of the file you are working with, i believe this option can do a repiar on your actual file in certain corrouptions.

Thanks crecomp, bnice!
The file is unfinished because the clone process freezed.
It has no file signature or header info .
Validate , mount and boot with Acronis TI 2009 demo write this:
This is not the last created volume.
I can see peaces of my files inside the file, but that is all.
Acronis has problems to open correct TIB files too.
VM . I do not try yet.

Better to sector image the original drive, without using acronis.

rename tib file to .IMG. Open as image file in R studio then scan for data. Also scan for file signitures, see if any files are working. Winhex is also an option.

I am pretty sure acronis images are not RAW images, so this option may not work.
April 24th, 2009, 4:35
I cant say I have ever tried it but no harm in trying.

After R-Studio scan I found some files in the bad image

Big step, even I can save only part of files.
Thank you HDD Spaz.

Wich version of R-Studio did you use?
What kind of file did you extract?
I tried with R-Studio 4.6 but it extracted many file with strange extensions than none on backupped files could have
Instead it couldn't find any XLS that surely was in that TIB.
R-Studio v. 5.0 seems to find the same
Any suggestione about how to fix the header?

I have seen Acronis files report as "corrupt" before. I ran across this a month ago on a server system. I will send you all of the details of my case and hopefully it will apply to your case as well.

Ok, thanks in advance, however the log says the backup was created successfully even if True Image can't mount, explore or validate it

I understand. I have seen this exact problem before. The backup was created successfully, however Acronis itself cannot mount. I understand the problem completely. I had this same problem before. Who is working on this and has original TIB , Iszerda or Dylan666?
