Which a the difference between a seagate and an OEM drive?

April 22nd, 2009, 19:51

Hi,

I have a few months in making data recovery and It´s the first time I need to make a platter exchange from an OEM drive model ST91608210, the origianal PCB works perfect.

Does I need to buy for the replacement the model of an OEM drive or can I buy the model of seagate?

Can somebody explain me please which is the difference between the manufacturer and the OEM drives?

Thank you

The difference is in firmware in 99% of drives
