How to remove Momentus 5400.4 password ???

I have this problem too. May be we can solved it together.
You need to have the terminal.
Can you read vendor track?
You can do it with SE_DIV http://sediv2008.narod.ru/Easy1014.rar
Choose Family=Momentus 5400.4
Model=your model
COM=your COM
press Connect and insert power to hdd.
You' ll see IN COM Shell:

Type System Tracks
Type Checked All

PLEAS READ ALL CAREFULLY BEFOR START:

1) Push button OK.
2) Turn Off Power HDD.
3) Wait HDD speed down until stop one.
Pause during 5-10 seconds.
4) Turn On Power HDD.

Do it!
You'll see
Vendor Track = F91D
remember it
Go to Read/Write
Type Read Sectors
Begin Track=F91D
Head=0
Begin Sector=6
Sector Count=7
Buffer Adr.=4B0

press Read
and attach your Trk_F91D Hd_0 Sct_6(7).bin

check connectors and if not working get full version. Demo version sometime does not allow you to work in termianl mode.

Translate Russian site and see if full version or demo version. Go from there. Normal demo version do not work right need full version to continue. Do not understand Russian. Also can try other termianl programs to get same results.

Read vendor and give it to me.

But the free should at least display terminal log, right ?
What can be wrong so it doesn't ? If i power on/off the same drive without removing the terminal connections but with HyperTerminal i can see all working fine ... Does the program require some special cable/adaptor or the RS-232 on HDDGuru page should work fine ?

Free SeDiv can read but can't write. If HyperTerminal can connect to hdd, free SeDiv must connect too. Check Com Port and Baudrate and other options. I can success connect with Baudrate=9600, Data bits=8, Parity=None, Stop bits=1.
1. Press connect
2. hdd power on
3. See connection log and press CTRL-Z

Yes it must show you the terminal log. Drive have to be connected and then you must press "connect".
Then you'll see the terminal. Maybe you should press CTRL+Z to see the T>
Anyway it need terminal connector for seagate.
Soon new version will be available, that will work with WD too.
I will write a review soon.
