Looking for someone to recover data - UK preferred.

April 30th, 2009, 12:00

I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB disk that has been damaged when the wrong power supply was plugged in. I've located an identical disk / PCB (see attached photo). The red area on left PCB is where the original PCB is damaged. The disk /PCB on right is the new one. Bottomline is I would like to get the data off the disk. I put the new donor PCB on the old disk but did not help as, although drive now spins up, I cannot see it in BIOS. I believe the ROM chip needs moved from blown PCB to new one but I don't have the skills.

I really need someone with the requisite skills to recover the data either by moving the ROM chip or whatever is required. I live in Edinburgh, Scotland but can ship if you are skilled and would like the business or can recommend a reputable company. I would need an idea of cost first.

Many thanks.
