Why did you unplug it ? Did you unplug it with the drive turned off ?If you have disconnect it with the power off and then connect it again it should pose no problem. The only problem that i see is that if you remove that ribbon with the drive working ....
Are you sure the drive is spinning and that the ribbon is hold in place properly ?
As for the table it would help to have a picture but i can guarantee that it won't help you at all to fix your problem.
Is the drive detected on the bios ? Is the drive spinning ?

And why do you want to re-use a cheap hitachi drive with??? Do yourself a favour and go buy a new HDD ! Then you can clone the damaged drive on the new one with something free called partition saving and when the copy is done you can run another free tool called testdisk and re-create the partitions on the new drive !two pins off HDD into the HDD
