Hi Guru's,
I have a Seagate Barracuda with what I suspect is a failed TVS. I have searched both this forum and the web extensively for disassembly instructions for the PCB on this drive and can't find any. I am an experienced service level tech but am concerned about connector types and procedures to reduce risk of damage to PCB or connectors.
Can someone please provide me with instructions/information on PCB removal for this drive type. Also can someone confirm that the fried component indicated is the (I geuss 5v as it is smaller) TVS for this drive and if so recommend a suitable replacement component.
After searching the web and this forum extensively it appears my diagnostic process should be as follows, please inform me if this is correct:-
1. Remove PCB from drive and de-solder/remove one leg of the fried TVS.
2. Re-install and test
3. Works - Great recover data
4. Doesn't work -

( try replacing PCB [have sourced a replacement on e-bay] and cross fingers
The drive spec and pics are as follows:-

Further the drive was/is an external in XCraft Cooler Master enclosure, I have used these before without issue and this enclosure has been in use for over 12 months without a problem so far, does anyone have any information on the reliability of the PSU in this enclosure??? Also as I don't have another U/S drive to test with can anyone suggest a method to load test this enclosure before putting another drive into it.
Any assistance in the above matters would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
