It looks very nice but I never understood the necessity for any of these tools because we, like many others I'm sure, have always fashioned our own low-tech spreaders which work remarkably well.

well in some cases You just do not know why it does not work, it may be damage on the platters and it may not. Using this tools You have no contact with platters or heads do not tuch each other.
So it is the only whey to take off heads and put new set back with no contact.
