Need help for WD1600BEVS-22UST0

Hi ppl. i need help for a diagnostic and possible repair options for my mentioned HDD. To put it simple, On boot the HDD makes a strange two-pitch noise and stops when trying to boot the OS and kinda sounds like duh-nuh nuh over and over again. For records, i have disected the machinery and quite dont know what its supposed to look like. Additionally, the HDD cannot find an OS and when i attempted to re-install a copy of Windows, it seemed as if the files werent able to be saved onto the HDD...if anyone has any suggestions PLEASE post them...thank you very much.

There is a program MHDD which you can find on this site. (Files)
use it and report your findings, in the mean time until you got
MHDD working with a good drive, leave this BEVS to rest a little.

By "Disecting the machinery" I am hoping you do not mean that you opened the drive outside of a cleanroom environment. If this is the case then the recovery has gotten much more difficult. This *sounds* almost like you are describing "stiction". These WD are notorious for the heads becoming stuck to the platter and making a sort of "musical" sound. The question is has the drive been powered on and off too many times at this point, or left on too long. The heads and media surface may have sustained significant damage at this point.

I would recommend sending this drive to a pro for this one.

The HDD has been well rested, seeing is how this happened to me about a month ago... ._. ...and in reguards to leaving it on, I am notorious for that... I had the drive for less than three months though, but needless to say since i opened it myself im afraid any chance of warranty is basically out of the question [the WD ppl wanted me to even pay for the new hard drive as compensation for the old drive not being in 'warrant condition']. So with all that aside, how much do you thing taking it to a pro would cost? im basically broke and have no job T.T

Not to worry - many people doing the same as you did (dissection).

Pro? Cost? - probably a little over $2000.00, maybe more.

Why did you bisect the machinary ?

I really would like to know why ppl do this,
cause even some pros think carefully before they disect the machine.

So, you wouldn't pay a pro locksmith $500 to break into your faulty safebox that you'd mashed the lock up using a crowbar, with $50,000 of your money in it? ....
