Hitachi Deskstar HDP725050GLA360 diode burned

July 9th, 2009, 13:19

After testing my HDD with Hitachi Drive Fitness Test HDD, stopped working, check the PCB and i see that the diode D4 was burned.
It is possible to replace and if so someone knows that specifications have D4?

If you need to get data off of the drive you can remove it and extract the data to a new drive ASAP.

But I would not use this drive to hold data any more. That diode is the power protection for the drive; so when it's gone there is no more protection.

Hi Boshogot, I got the same hard drive and the printed circuit board have a different problem (it's an other chip...)
- I would like to know if it is possible for you to send me your PCB - I can pay for the shipping by paypal or other...

I got many years of work on that drive and I still don't find the same drive... I know that there is no guaranties that it will work on my hard drive because it's not the same date but I talk to a friend that said that it is working the most of the time!

Tank you in advance, my hope is rebirth -

Which chip is it? Can you provide a photo?

It could be more serious then repairing the PCB if *certain* components are damaged.
