Guys ,
The Drive Spins Up and Initializes According to the sound internally .But the same is not detected in the system .This Is the ES.2 Series Drive .Salvation Seagate Can Initialize The PCB If The Same is Not on The HDA .With the following

Using Terminal In Seagate Salvation is No Use At All .

You used terminal in 7200.11 mode? (i.e. 38.4k)

Is it firmware SN05 by any chance?

You probably won't see anything in terminal, so you'll have to Ctrl-Z at the right time to gain access.

I had one of these last week, I struggled to get a F3 T> prompt, but I did in the end and performed the usual 7100.11 tricks. Worked fine.

In Salvation Segate the Terminal Is Just Blank even By Selecting 7200.11

I can't quite remember how I got terminal access, but I'll get the drive out of stock tomorrow and refresh my memory.

It was certainly a LED CC type error, as Doomer said.

I Have Still Not Managed the Same ,Using Salvation Seagate Doctor i am Using Its Terminal \"Might be thats a issue \" .If I connect the PCb Only To the Same There is No Termainal all All ,I Just Cannot Get It .Anyways connecting The PCb to the HDA Assembly Get Me this Error in Terminal \"Hell It Works Atleast \"

Well My Drive Behaves Very Different From His Observation.the changes Are

1. Disk has to be complete (PCB+rest together), NO isolation between the PCB and the rest

Well I Have Done The Same Also

2. In the terminal you will see every few seconds message LED: 000000CC ...

WEll In My Case Its Not Every Second But After Few Minutes

3. between these messages you can unlock the terminal by pushing CTRL+Z. It will show a line: \"F3 T>\" and it will be Unlocked for about 1 second

WEll As My Drive Behaves different From His Observation I Have Still Not Been Able To Manage This .So the Text Down Makes No Sense At All to Me ,Help Me Guys .Do you think I Try Terminal From Pc-3000 PCI Instead of Salvation ?

4. During that 1 second when you see \"F3 T>\" message but before you receive next \"LED:000000CC...\" you must short two points shown in the following image (they are known as \"read-channel\").


You must hold them short about 20-30 or little more seconds.
If you won\'t see next \"LED:000000CC...\" and disk will issue few unpleasant sounds then after some time you\'ll see in the terminal message \"Input Command Eror\".
Now the disk\'s terminal is unlocked!
Still holding those 2 pins short issue command /2 and then Z (they\'re cAsE sEnSiTiVe!).
When disk\'s engine will stop you will see message \"Spin Down Complete\" and now you can release the short between 2 pins.

Next do repair with standard instruction (as for 7200.11) - all below is cAsE sEnSiTiVe!:

Spin Up Complete
F3 T3>/1
F3 1>N1
F3 1>/
F3 T>m0,2,2,0,0,0,0,22
and wait until you\'ll get message
Max Wr Retries = 00, Max Rd Retries = 00, Max ECC T-Level = 00, Max Certify Rewrite Retries = 0000

I am a complete amateur (not DR professional), and of course, give no warranty for the described procedure.
It worked for me and my two ES.2 drives are alive now.
Of course, this procedure or the incorrect use might as well burn your disks and data.
I don\'t assume responsibility for such cases - everything you do at your own risk.

This procedure of ES.2\' terminal unlocking is my own discovery, and I\'d like to share this knowledge with other poor owners of bricked (in BSY state) ES.2 disks.

Hi Amarbir,

I had the same issue last week, but like the post you were reading from, I had very little time between prompts to CTRL+Z. If you are not getting a response back, you are not shorting out the contacts correctly. Please read below to see how I got around it.


1. Keep the drive and the PCB together, separating them is not necessary.

2. Get two straight pins and twist them together, separated at the right distance to short out the holes pictured below.

3. In the terminal window, again, you will see the message LED: 000000CC ...

4. You have to get your timing right between these messages. Get your pins ready and above the two holes (read-channel). I had my son hit CTRL+Z and I was ready with the pins. As soon as you see the F3 T> prompt stick both pins in the holes and hold them for 30 seconds. When you get the F3 T> to stay constant, you have unlocked the drive. Do not remove the pins yet.

5. With the pins still in place, type in /2 hit enter and then Z and enter. (Case Sensitive). The drive will power down and you will see a message “Spin Down Complete” . You can remove the pins now.

6. Next continue with the standard instructions for the 7200.11 fix. All commands below are case sensitive.

Wait until the following message appears…

I Am not Getting LED Error Like you Are Getting My Comes After Some Minute Not One After the Other Like you Were Getting

To be honest, I don't think the speed of the prompts is the issue. If you can short the holes immediately after the prompt appears, and hold until you get a solid prompt, you should still be successful.

No Luck ,Only If The PCB Is On the HDA And I Switch It On If i Keep Pressing CTRL+Z I Get t> For Few Seconds and then Terminal Freezes and LED Error Comes ,I Have Tried Shorting The Two Locations As Mentioned In This Post http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=129551 ,I Have Tried all Methods But No avail
