Hitachi HTS 723 series drives

August 24th, 2009, 7:34

Hi all
i have a hitachi hts 723 drive 320gb sata drive that is currently not supported by pc3000.
drive starts clicking and then becomes ready, drive will id correclty with full modelnumber, serial number and firmware., but as i cant select the hts 723 family from pc3000 i cant do any firther tests on it.

when i launch DE i am able to get drive ready, when starting a copy process, the copy starts fine for about 200000 blocks and then stops imaging with sectors being unreadable.

if i try and read data directly from thedrive, it starts reading data but quickly drops out, i can see the full folder structure but as soon as i select save marked data i get the file name and it shows operation aborted, occassionally it will save some files during the saving process and when it does save these files they can be viewed with their corresponding application, such as word or excel.

has anyone comeaccross this issue and if so have they been able to resolve it with no uodate for the pc3000

any ideas will be greatly appreciated,

thank you

failed head. Use MHDD, manually try to calculate the jump size needed to clone the disk. Then replace the heads.

Probably heads. You may add this family to PC3K - you need correct techkey only.
