Hello. I am new to the forum. Excuse my bad English.
I have a problem with a Maxtor HDD model 6Y060L0420471 , CODE YAR41VW0. Firmware D6FYP1 chip Ardent C5-C1. The chip Smooth was burned by problems in the power supply of the pc. I probe amplifier and is fine (+5 volt and -5volt). Know if the motor is fine. Some form of test? Measured resistance in the four pins is between 1,9 to 2,9 OHMS. This is correct ?
I get the following pcb, but not if they are compatible with this hdd.
Hdd 60 gb CODE YAR41VW0 Firmware g6fya chip Ardent C8-C1 - OR-
HDD 80 gb CODE YAR41BWO, Firmware F4FYA.
If not compatible, I can swap in one of two pcb the firmware rom chip for the rom chip D6 on my HDD?
there any other solution? Since I do not get the exact pcb here.
thanks.

If with both PCBs (at least the 1st should work) the drive does not calibrate or makes the typical Maxtor sound "zzzzingg... zziiinnng.... zzziiingg..." , most likely you have fried preamplifier OR the pcb is totally incompatible so try another.
If you have partial calibration you have either a wrong PCB or damage to the service area. Notice that if you have some certain damage at preamp level, you can fry the new PCB also...
NOTE : when I see such damage, I never swap PCB at first , I make an extensive check of the headstack with special equipment and... knowledge. (NO I won't share) just to avoid damage of spare PCB or searching for a failure that is not there.

Shame on U for not sharing, U did not have to be sooo blunt, have U not ever sent a pm/email to a mate for some help on a drive. Just curious, why did u then tell him to check the headstack. Hope U have a good team spirit in ur work office/lab.
peace out

Thanks for the quick response.
I do the test with the PCB and then I commented.
Best regards.

hi. Finally I was able to walk again maxtor disk.
But the board (60 gb Hdd Firmware YAR41VW0 CODE chip g6fya Ardent C8-C1) was not correct the code was YAR41BWO. But buy the same. Of course not work.
But I read here:
http://www.deadharddrive.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=762
Only a matter of changing the ROM chip of my broken board and installed the new board (YAR41BWO).
And to make it work.
Thanks for your help.
