i have a maxtor 320 gb internal hard drive that wont format when i try to use the windows boot cd i have tried to wipe the entire disk with a bootable cd called hdat and used the fdisk and it worked but when i try to format it takes to long and then stops , the chkdsk (before i did the fdisk ) didnt work, so now i have a partitioned disk thats unable to format.
is there a powerful tool to format and partition and check for bad sectors that works on ms-dos as a bootable cd , i hope u can help me with that poeple

Download MHDD and test the drives surface.

you have a FW problem you should send it to a PRO
If you want your data.
If not then buy another one

He doesn't want (most probably) data because he's trying to FORMAT the drive.
I vote for firmware problem. I think a pro is available in his area, don't know if any valuable member of this forum is (look at the members section and filter by location). If it is a FW problem it can be solved at reasonable price and drive can be used again, otherwise replace it.
