Hi,
I have bought Seagate Expansion™ Portable Drive 320GB 15 days ago. When the HDD is plugged in at USB it appears to be working fine. In recent days, the Speed of transfer is very slow…as compared to how it was when I transferred the initial 20GB. Then I tend to cancel an on-going transfer as it takes too much time. Then the problem starts. Contents of the Folders appear to be EMPTY (Folder is Empty). Also there are some half transferred folders which cannot be deleted….it shows the message ‘Error deleting...cannot find specified path’. I suspect Damaged sectors and worry about safety of my data.
I ran CheckDisk utility of Windowsxp with both options of automatically fix file system errors & Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors ticked. But the CheckDisk operation Fails.
I decided to do diagnostic by using Seatools for Windows. The Test Result for each of the Test is as follows :
Short DST : Pass
Long DST : Pass
Short Generic Test : Fail
Long Generic Test :
a)Repair None : More than 160 Errors Found…and then Test FAIL status is displayed.
b)Repair All :Long Generic - FAIL
Advance test
Don’t know how to proceed.
I think my HDD needs visit to a Support/service Center....Any suggestions on dealing with my current problem are welcome.
Thank You.
