Could experts here help to identify what is the component that needs replacement for this Maxtor Diamondmax21 STM3250820A 250G IDE hard disk ?
It was originally embedded in a hard disk case placed near by window. It was damaged recently after a rainy day when the window was not close. I have removed the hard disk from the case and noted sign of burnt/crack component near the power connector. This component in between 5V and GND are measured to be shorted. Could experts here help to identify what is the burnt/crack component, as I try to see if it can be repaired by sourcing and replacing such device.
Here are the images about the component mentioned and the hard disk :
Thanks

Hello netgen,
If you have some skills of soldering and desoldering remove it with another good one, or just remove it.
good luck

The device is a TVS (search this forum for more info)
If you just need the data, simply remove it and the drive may well wok long enough to get it off, assuming there's no internal damage.
If you want to re-use the drive (not really recommended) then it needs replacing.
