Greetings to all...

I face a prob. I have an external HDD 6 months old. I left my pc on overnight and in the mornig I found my HDD none responding. The LED in on. it spins but no other action. Windows doesnt see it neither bios. i used seatools none graphical version and it come up with all the info and also it said that the hdd stop operating due to high tempeture...
took it back to retail to check it but there is nothing that they can do
spoke to some pros about it and they've told me that there is a protection chip on board and it needs reset... but doing that also mbr will be deleted.

now my question is how do i do this ?
is there a software to reset the drive ?

thanks in advance ! :?

ps. can i overcome this prob by updating firmware ?

Who ever gave you that advise has no idea. Remove HDD and post model and firmware code please.

If data is important please take drive to a data recovery professional instead.
