Power cable burns when connected to Seagate 500 GB HDD

October 6th, 2009, 9:00

I have a 500 GB Seagate barracuda 7200.11, Model: ST3500820AS. It was working fine when suddenly one day the power cable burnt. I tried connecting different cables, but every time I boot with a power cable connected to my hard disk, it starts burning(RED Wire). I checked a new power cable with another hard disk of mine and it was working fine. When I connected the same power cable to this hard disk, it burned again. Also i tried disconnecting other hard drives to check whether the SMPS was overloaded, but the same problem repeated. Please help me out.My drive is under warranty(its just 6 mnths since i got it)but i need my 450 GB data back before returning to them for replacement.
I was searching over internet and i found one similar issue. They told to change or remove TVS diode.(i am not that much into diodes and all).will that spoil my warranty?I am from Chennai -India.

Thanks in advance
