(sorry for my english if it's bad)
Hello,
Please help me cuz I'm gonna throw this 160gb hitachi HDD out the window
is there any utility I can use to determine and isolate the slow sectors (that are not considered as bad sectors by chkdsk /r and similar utilities) depending on the access time to the sectors
for example: I want every sector with access time above 50ms to be considered as unusable so nothing will be stored in that sector in the future
I tried chkdsk /r and other disk utilities that I can see them come through these very slow sectors during the check but in the end I get the congratulation message telling me there are no bad sectors ..
I really need ur help .. I don't wanna keep wasting time downloading big files then find them corrupted
I heard about MHDD .. can MHDD do this job .. if yes .. how can I perform this check (what is the command line) and how can I adjust the sector access time that if exceeded the sector must be treated as bad sector and get isolated
Thanks

I am a Chinese data recovery staff, good English proficiency. Probably know you need this version of the MHDD

Would it not be cheaper and easier to buy a new one?

Thank u guys
ok I've erased the HDD (MHDD --> ERASE command)
then I made a little modification in MHDD.CFG and reduced the ERASEWAITSDELAY from 350ms to 50ms
now if I want to isolate (or delete or kill) sectors having access time above 50ms
I think I must run SCAN command with Erase Delays(DESTRUCTIVE):ON
then run SCAN again with REMAP:ON
so these sectors will be marked us unusable
am I right ?
Q: if I format the HDD using windows vista setup dvd after doing the above MHDD tasks, does it make the bad sectors usable again ?
sorry for my quistions .. i'm a civil engineer actually and don't have much information about these technologies
Thnks

please note when I say (usable) I mean storing data on these bad sectors.. not repairing them (I know they are unrepairable)
