St31000340AS Controller Error

October 17th, 2009, 12:49

I got a unit of Maxtro Basic with ST31000340AS in it got into the SD15 issue but I rectified it myself 6 months back. I put everything back into the casing and continue using the drive but it seems that due to the design of the case itself, the drive got overheating and at once the tempreture went over 65C.After this whenever I plug my drive into my PC, it would took a while to get it connected. Only recently, when I plug my drive into my PC, the PC said the drive is connected, recognized it but when I try to access any data on it, the PC will freeze until I unplug it from the PC. I check the event log it said somekind of controller error on the HDD.

Is there anything I can do beside of calling the data recovery because I got some really important data in it.

Anyone here can give a hand or tell me what I can do next step??

Thanks

Try connecting the drive outside of the USB enclosure?
