Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello to all,
Here is the situation:I have a HDT721010SLA360 drive on which I need to clear smart and take care of the G-List.
The model is currently not supported by SD and I am not sure if it's supported by Ace.
My approach:Since i could not find any updates released for this drive series yet, my approach was to sniff out usb traffic on SD from some other Hitachi drives KLA360 and some other models and hope that one has compatible commands. Unfortunately I have not had much luck because of the fact that SD's HD Doctor uses USB to communicate with the back-end PC,(on which I can see the interrupts) but I can't see the real front-end juice, which Is what I need. Yes, I have made a logical thinking error on this since I did not consider the fact that I am capturing at the wrong layer or better yet the wrong interface.
QuestionsDoes Hitachi change ATA commands for clearing smart and G-List often or are they pretty much the same on most models?
Is this model currently supported by Ace?
Does anyone have experience with RE on SD?
Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to intercept commands from SD?
Anyone willing to share or exchange?
Does anyone have the same issue and would like to collaborate on this?
Thanks as always for putting your minds to work

I have UDMA and it is not supporting this drive (yet).
This drive has new techno commands, so it is not compatible with any other model supported.
Since i have no free time i'm waiting for ace to come up with the solution.
Should still be a few months though.
If however, we could cooperate to find a solution ourselves, i would be very glad indeed.

Read the HGST manual. SMART Attribute Initialize doesn't need special mode AFAIK

Are you referring to disable SMART? If so yes this can be done via DFT, but how about clearing SMART? And of course my main issue is that G-list is full.

The manual is great!!!
I definitely am finding use for it. However I did not see any reference to the growing defect list. Is is one of the vendor logs... maybe downloading all the vendor logs and analyzing them to find the g-list and overwrite it... could this be a step in to the right direction?
