WD1600JB Rom Flash possible? - How?

November 4th, 2009, 11:24

Greetings!

I have an WD1600JB with corrupted PCB and got already an new one,
but with an different ROM (firmware?).
After failure of the old PCB the drive wasn't even recognized it the Bios,
with the new PCB the drive is recognized in the Bios again.

Is it possible to get a copy from an / the old ROM and flash it to the other / new ROM?

It is very hard to find any information about these topics  ,
so it would be very nice if someone here could help me.

- OLD / Original Model: WD1600JB - 22GVC0
- Failure: hot PCB, possibly burned, but no visible signs

If you need any further information I will provide them as fast as possible.

Thanks a lot!

You'll need to transfer the nvram; it is on the pcb; 8-pin ic. Check older posts and look for nv-ram.
You have to solder that one onto the new pcb.

Best regards,
