Deleted data after FAT32 to NTSF conversion

Hello!

Several days ago, I accidentally deleted data on my secondary (logical - D:\) partition while converting form FAT32 to NTFS file system. I used Partition Magic, just selected convert to NTSF, and that's it.

OK, now I have empty NTSF partition. Is there any way to completely recover/undelete/restore data on this partition. I tried using classic undelete programs, but they simply find what they can, by extensions they recognize.

You'll need some proper data recovery software.

Download demo version of something like Getdataback or R-Studio and install it ON ANOTHER DRIVE, then point the software to your problem drive, to be connected as slave or via USB.

If that picks up your files, you'll need to pay for it to save your data.

I tried using applications like the ones you mentioned, but they act simply as undelete/restore tools which recognize files by extensions they are aware of. Is there a way to reverse the conversion process and return data? I know it sounds stupid, by I'm kinda desperate.

answer is no

They are deleted now and only way is raw recovery. If you want back data do raw recovery and spend time to rename and redo your files and folders. Sorry for this one but that is your oprion now and a good one to get your data back on here.

pcimage is correct on what he is telling you to do. Follow his advice closely to get back your data.

Now, does anybody know utility which can restore mobile phone messages (suppose it's .msg) from memory stick or erased partitions.

I would use Winhex or something like that to search for the file signature.

You'd need a good sample file to compare the file sig with though, just to make sure you're searching for the right files.

This may be a silly question but you did use getdataback for fat and not ntfs right. And set it for sustained file system damage and entire drive, not volume.
