Seagate PN codes

November 16th, 2009, 20:10

Hi, I have a recovery job in that the customer has found a donor for (heads). Its not an exact match and it got me to wondering what the code after the hyphen means.

The Patient:
7200.9
ST3200827A
PN=9BD03E-304
FW=3.AAH

The possible donor (its in Japan so I don't want to get it shipped if its not a perfect match).
7200.9
ST3200827A
PN=9BD03E-303
FW=3.AAE

I have a PC3000 so can handle the firmware but its the stuff after the hyphen. If its in the PC3000 manual, please PM me the pg number (I don't have the manual in front of me, but can grab the PDF from the ACE resources site).

Anybody know what the coding scheme is? PM me if its sensitive info.
Thanks.
