Data recovery places in florida 32258?

November 27th, 2009, 22:24

I quick google search and in my area I only found one data recovery place. I did not really want to ship the drive for data recovery and it hopefully would be one of the places that would not be on the higher end of the price market as I don't have much $ and free diagnosis. Any suggestions?

Give idea what is wrong with this drive so that we can determine how to help you. We might know of someone else who can offer help from the forum here

Shipping your drive should not be a problem, as long as you pack it safely.

We're in Atlanta, have no diagnostic fees, and comparatively low rates.

PM me if interested.

Whenever I connect it to a computer be it the sata cable or a usb adapter it spins up but will lock up linux or windows until it is disconnected. It won't read or anything and it has my EVERYTHING on that drive. I also have rstudio network edition and it will lock that up too. I do not have a boot cd of rstudio though. I *think* it would be a control board problem but am not sure. I was told that I could swap the board for another hard drive if I matched a few numbers on it. I was told I would have to mach the first 3 of the SN and the code and the N, G, C, B... then the board would swap
I have a maxtor diamondmax 11
Model: 6H500F0
TLA: 6H500F008A51L
SN: H812R71H
Code: HA431DNO
N, G, C, B
LBA: 976773168

Well I dropped it off at a data recovery place and apparently the circuit board was dead as well as the heads... how much should this cost on average to fix?

Cost depends on the make/model of the drive. If it is western digital expect higher prices, if it is of large capacity it will probably cost more (this depends a lot on the internal design of the drive, how many platters/heads are inside)

PCB repairs are usually ~$250-$500 depending on the some factors

Head stack replacement for non WD desktop drives usually ~$500(VERY good deal) - $1500.

Head stack replacement for WD desktop drives you can expect $1000-$2500. In my experience ~$2500 is about as expensive as any recovery will come, save maybe some "Extreme" recoveries.

If your drive has both PCB and Head-stack problems they will probably quote you the head stack price + small extra for the PCB, but not full price for the PCB.
