Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hey my 120 gig was in a mac. Stopped working. put in external and hooked up to PC using MacDrive (Mediafour) to read it.
Does not show up at all
Does not show up under computer->management->Discdrives (Even as not formatted)
Does not show up in bios
I know the following.
The platter is not scratched.
I tried freezing it. - nothing
The head is not stuck
It spins up at power, then the head clicks twice, and it slows.
It repeats this process 6-8 times then stops.
Is this a head problem? I am not going to use a professional recovery service.
Would replacing the head help? or could it be somthing else?
Do I have to use the exact model number and Part number?
I have FUJITSU MHV2120BH CA06672-B55600AP
But I have found
Fujitsu 120GB SATA CA06672-B25600C1 MHV2120BH PL
Fujitsu 120GB SATA CA06672-B29600SN MHV2120BH PL
Fujitsu 120GB SATA CA06672-B35600TW MHV2120BH PL
Fujitsu 120GB SATA CA06672-B276000T MHV2120BH PL

ok, then I am on the right track.
Do I have to have an exact match for the donor?
Could one of those listed earlier still work?

This is the broken on that I have and need a donor for:
FUJITSU MHV2120BH CA06672-B55600AP
These are those that are as close as I can find:
Fujitsu 120GB SATA CA06672-B25600C1 MHV2120BH PL
Fujitsu 120GB SATA CA06672-B29600SN MHV2120BH PL
Fujitsu 120GB SATA CA06672-B35600TW MHV2120BH PL
Fujitsu 120GB SATA CA06672-B276000T MHV2120BH PL
Is there any expectation they they could work? Or do I need to keep watching until I find an exact match in the future?
Also for the heads, will firmware version matter?

Hi everybody.
I do have exactly the same situation, so its very important for me to know if they are compatible.
Please write if anybody knows anything about it.
