The answer may be post somewhere else not sure but any help would be great. I have a 500gb sata seagate barracuda 7200.11 firmware DE12 with windows 7 on it. The drive was working fine i left the computer for a couple hours came back to it and it was froze so i pressed the power button until the computer shut down. Upon restart i received an error that said failed to detect one or more drives during post press F1 to continue. Then a get an error message that says bootmgr is missing. I had tried everything replaced the cable tried in a different computer nothing works the bios wont detect the HD the hard drive does spin up. So i went and purchased a new HD and that works fine. My question is is there anyway to recover the data on my old one? The computer wont recognize it at all even as a slave.
Thanks

Use the search function on the forum and search for "Seagate 7200.11 Firmware"
It's a common fault and recommend a pro to do it for you. It's a relatively cheap fix - I'm sure there's somebody on this forum who can do it for you.
