Donor Drive for Seagate ST9160821AS

Hi All

I am a bit of an amateur techie and I am learning about data recovery as it is a job I would like to get into.

I am attempting to fix a faulty Seagate HDD (model in subject line) and it is just ticking not spinning, it looks like the PCB has fried as there are burn marks on the board. I am using it for training purposes so no data loss risk to anyone.

My question is when looking for a donor drive what should I been looking for in terms of another PCB for this drive?

I have a PCB for this drive, but those models of Seagate, which was made for Apple, tend to have very nasty media damage in most of the cases, so board replacement won't help.
If your drive is ticking and not spinning, its most likely a head stiction.

Sorry, I misinformed you in my first post, the drive is in fact spinning, do you think it is still worth changing the board?
