Seagate 7200.2 ST3160212ACE Faulty.

Basically U ise the above hard drive in a small NAS, to cut a long story short we had a power surge which took out both my NAS and the HDD at the same time.

Upon plugging the HDD into my pc normally I can hear the drive spinning, but it is not recognised in the bio at all. The bios seems to think there is something there as it takes a long time to make up its mind, but in the end says the drive is unrecognisable.

I have searched high and low but unfortunately cannot find a replacement board for this drive, it seems the drive is used in a lot of sky+ boxes, etc.

I have however found some logic boards available for the ST3160022ACE. Now i have searched and searched and cannot find any differance in the drives, bar one is an OEM drive and one is retail.

I was just wondering if anyone on here could confirm this. The data on the drive is only some recorded tv, etc. It is not life threatening that i salvage it, but it would be nice as I don't wanna have to download it all again.

To reiterate... My drive is the ST3160212ACE and the logic board i have found is a ST3160022ACE.

Any advice you could offer would be most appreciated. Thanks for any help in advance!

Less likely its a PCB issue.
Terminal output would be more useful.
