Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I hope everyone had and is continuing to have a wonderful holidays.
I have run into a bit of an issue that I am a little perplexed as to how to fix. I am using a LaCie 2Big Quadra, and have been trying to search for answers all afternoon...but haven't came across anything of merit yet.
Anyway, I have two of these units with quite a few drive inserts to switch in and out of them. One of the units is set to RAID1 while the other is set to Concatenation (Big). I needed to move some things around between the concatenated drives, so I removed the RAID1 drives and switched that external over to Concat. mode. Did all of my necessary file transfers, removed the Concat. drives, switched the case back over to RAID1 (powered off), placed the original RAID1 drives in, powered on and now they are unrecognizable by my computer (OSX Leopard).
Since I have a few pairs of spare inserts, I was able to recreate the problem. It seems there is an issue going from RAID1 -> Concat. -> RAID1 to where it will not recognize the disks without repartioning.
I would have to imagine that my Data is still fine on the original RAID1 disks (I could be wrong of course). Mechanically the disks are fine. Is this a fixable problem? Or will I need to take this to a data recovery company?

If it is RAID 1 I would expect you should just be able to hook up the drive straight to some machine and access the data...

Good luck with this one, but these quadras are not an easy job and without professional help I am unsure you will be able to access your lost data.
