HDD seen as Cd Rom

December 31st, 2009, 2:25

I dont know the problem, but my hard disk is seen as a cd rom. I have tried on multiple computers, and it is the same on all of them. Tried changing the drive letter too, but no success. Means the letter changes, but still the drive is seen as a cd rom. I cannot format the hard disk. I used to use it perfectly till some time back, but this is happening recently ( 2 to 3 days). It is a Toshiba 80gb disk, and since the warranty period has passed away, i dont see any point in taking it to the support guys. Can someone please help me? :(

I've had this issue.

The problem is a CD that has been cramed into the hard drive.

Tricky but you need to take the CD out of this hard drive before it suffers some kind of damage.

These are typically music cd's distributed on cable TV "90's Rock Ballads" and the like.

I've found 2 drives with "50 Power Jams!".
