st330831a locks up randomly

I have a hd that locks up randomly i ran seagate tools for dos and windows ,defraged and scandisked, a number of times, also used gparted utilities
I have a dual boot system {linux and vista} 32 bit

QUESTION 1

If 1 operating system crashes ,while only using that operating system, and with hd lockup and hard reboot, they both see it and ask for there repair utilities to run after reboot

QUESTION 2

It also says that in (seatools {tm} for windows) that this drive ST3300831A has no advanced power management features ,,, exact phrase (not supported)

but if i turn off apm in bios vista wont boot


i have lastest bios for mobo

Do scan f4 with mhdd.
