st3500320as 7200.11 slow bios detect

January 19th, 2010, 3:04

The drive was bricked, but I recovered it via terminal and then upgraded the firmware. I'm not concerned about the data on the drive, but would like to continue using the drive as part of my raid0 array. The drive seems to work fine, has no bad sectors, remapped sectors or otherwise. However the hard drive now takes about 10 seconds to be detected by the bios during a cold boot. Subsequent resets (warm boot) are ok. My other 7200.11 drive is detected instantly on a cold boot and I'm sure this one used to be as well.

Any ideas what to look for and/or a possible solution?

Thanks in advance.

Rob
