5400.2 it looks like?
Probably heads, check for damage, these ones like to hide the damage on lower platters...ugh.

Yes, I would think heads or MD. I see that's a MERC2, is it a FW 7.01 with Apple logo?

I have the same:
Came out of Mac M1n1:
Momentus 5400.2
ST96812AS
FW: 7.01
SINGAPORE

MERC2
The Patient was clicking.
I got a working donor, did a Head swap.
Upon doing the head swap I discover 2 micro-Donuts:
1: at Sector 0
2: about 80% out
Looks like Saturn.
The Heads didn't break off.. but Head 1 (the top) looks like if lost a few layers and started to dig in... for coal.
After Head swap:
No Click, but wont come out of busy.
Terminal:

I don't think the donor's Heads went bad. If they did go bad, I imagine it would start clicking. which it is not clicking.
The heads are not stuck either..
Anyone know a way around this one?
Hot swap? Hammer time?

I have to find my baggy pants first..

Here's an interesting Predicament.
The patient Clicked.
The donor worked.
I did a Head swap.
The patient now doesn't load or move the new (Donor's) HDA on to the Platters.
The HDA just sits in the parked position. The coil has continuity.
I put the Donor HDA back to the DONOR and the DONOR doesn't move the HDA at all, ether.
I checked the Gasket. I even removed the Gasket. Nothing.
The DONOR sits in BUSY state. No Clickee; No Movee.. It just spins up... WTF?
I want to hold off on the hammer time.. until later..
