How Safe is 0x00?

February 8th, 2010, 6:42

Just wiping a drive and using the Standard wipe procedure of 1 pass 0x00, Zero Fill technique.

Wondering how safe this method is, and weather data could actually be recovered from this easily?

I was going to choose the option of 3-Pass DOD Standard, with verification, but ETA was around 40 hours.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Data can not be recovered.

Data fragments might still be recoverable from any reallocated bad sectors in the Glist, if there are any.

If you have any concerns you should read the documentation that goes with Hdderase. The internal security erase command is usually the best way to destroy data.
