Through research here I have found that simply removing faulty TVS diodes then performing recovery could easily cause data loss. I was looking to purchase TVS diodes so that instead of just removing the bad one and risking the data.

You can replace your diode with an SMBJ12A (12V) or SMAJ5.0A (5V). These are available from Farnell, Mouser, Digikey.
