I think is a good marketing advertising for the Freecom.

If they sell 10.000 disk per month and they charge only $29.95, if 5% of the disk can be with problem they send to try DR.

If they could not do it , will give a new disk. that´s great :)

Is it an "all risk" insurance that include fallen drives ? :D
When they will get tons of drives ma... ehm... "touched" by users and fiddled with DIY solutions found on the net, I think at the marketing office something will happen. The drives ARE ALWAYS "of course" working at the moment of registration... in fact the problems come AFTER (5 minutes before died it was alive). Would be funny to see how long it will last
Use Excel and make a simulation ;)

However I bet there will be a clause which states 'best endeavours' for recovery.... I bet a good % will be beyond recovery ;o)
